Registration Rules
Those who prefer light curtains made of lightweight, airy materials will make the right choice when it comes to a room with little light. Suppose the interior of your bedroom is rich in shades. In that case, it is preferable to use curtains of a similar color scheme, performed in soothing colors. To draw attention to the design of a window in a tiny room, we follow the following rule: we choose curtain fabrics in various colors for plain and plain curtains for patterned wallpaper.

But it is not that simple. Most often, a dark room needs to be visually expanded. Curtains with a pattern in the form of a transverse stripe and fabrics that are fixed in the open state with a recording can ideally help. In such rooms, we should approach the selection of interior elements with great care. After all, the stricter and simpler the window design looks, the brighter and more spacious the room seems.
Also, discard lush curtains and various decorative details. Emphasize only one point – it will preserve sophistication and elegance. Such a detail, for example, can be a lambrequin (but not in the case of a low ceiling). By the way, a lambrequin is a decorative curtain located in the upper part of a window opening, a curtain assembly, or a door across the entire width of the corner. If the bedroom is not very large, then a straight lambrequin on a sander or board, which can be flat or cut in the form of an arch, is suitable. Combining it with tulle or tulle and blackout curtains is preferable. The fabric of the lambrequin must necessarily “keep in tune” with the colors of the curtains and have the same structure.
And if the room, on the contrary, is expansive and the ceiling is low, then materials with a vertical pattern are suitable for it. Still, not lambrequin – it will spoil the overall picture, and the top will seem even lower. For this purpose, it is better to use long curtains attached to the ceiling cornice. With enough ceiling height, any curtain rod attached to the wall is used.
Simple and elegant
If using decorative elements is not possible, then this does not mean that you have to give up beauty and comfort. Even simple curtains will look elegant if they are hung on rings that surround the holes at the top of the fabric – or simply eyelets or it can be fabric loops.
How to choose a curtain rod for curtains
Using a ceiling cornice to expand the space with a low ceiling visually will help. It will also “save” the situation with a small distance between the top and the window when installing a wall panel is almost impossible. This option, like no other, is best for a terrace or glazed loggia.
As for the profile, it is easy to bend in the shape of the ceiling and repeat its relief or arch. It should choose with a false ceiling. It is convenient to “plug” such a cornice into a niche behind the top and thereby hide it completely.
How to choose curtains for different rooms?
For the kitchen
In the kitchen, fabrics are suitable that will simultaneously play a decorative role but do not interfere with and fit the overall interior of the headset (classical style, minimalism, hi-tech style, etc.).At the same time, the material should not absorb odors and be easy to wash: we give silk, jute, linen, and cotton fabrics or materials such as plastic, straw, and bamboo.
For a spacious kitchen, the choice of curtains will not be difficult, but only neat and compact models are suitable for a small room. If you need to increase the height of the kitchen ceiling visually, it is better to use elongated materials; if you want to expand the space, choose shorter materials for this purpose. Roman shades are ideal. Again, we use the rule: thick fabrics are suitable for a kitchen located on the sunny side and translucent ceiling curtains for shaded rooms. As for the colors, materials in neutral tones will be a win-win option: beige, cream, and sand. And so that the curtains do not look too dull, you can use bright elements that match the kitchen interior. These are, for example, bindings and colored edges, which are sewn in neutral materials.
For the bedroom
For us, a bedroom is primarily a place of relaxation and solitude; therefore, it is essential to create an atmosphere of comfort and coziness. As a rule, such an interior is made in pastel colors, so avoid bright accents that are too active for this room. It is better to prefer muted and soft tones that create calmness and tranquility. Soft lambrequins, calm light colors, smooth lines, and contours in the interior of curtains – this is what will gracefully emphasize the interior of the bedroom. It is essential to combine curtains with other textiles in the room. For this purpose, it is better to sew decorative pillows and blankets on the bed from the same material as the curtains.
Curtains in the living room (hallway)
They should look good and sophisticated, but at the same time fit according to the style. To give the living room a luxurious look, you should choose printed materials, for example, hand-stitched. Simply put, buy expensive products. Lovers of the classic interior should look at curtains made of very aesthetic material – brocade, velvet, or silk. Can achieve a festive look with graceful lambrequins and quickly reach a simple urban look with striped or branded fabrics.
For the children’s room
When choosing fabrics for a nursery, one should take into account safety (curtains should not be flammable), easy care (does not collect dust and is easy to wash), and naturalness (linen and cotton). At the same time, it is essential to correctly combine the material’s texture with cushions, upholstered furniture, and other furnishings made of the material. You should also not over-saturate the nursery with “bold” colors; use dark tones that will only shade the room.
Consider the gender of the child: for example, for little girls, parents choose beige, crimson, or pink material, and for boys – blue, green, or light blue. Pay attention to the design of holders, lambrequins, pendants, and other accessories. It is advisable to arrange them as fairy-tale heroes or just interesting characters: flowers, butterflies, bears, clouds, to turn the nursery into a real world of magic!
